Sony Ericsson is Now "Sony": Announced First Smartphone Sony Xperia™ S

Sony has announced to finally complete the full acquisition of Sony Ericsson. Now onward Sony Ericsson is becoming part of Sony Corp.

Earlier Sony Ericsson was a joint venture in collaboration with infrastructure provider company Ericsson. S which will be available this Spring.

This acquisition deal was announced back in October 2011 according to this Sony willpurchase full stake of Soy Ericsson and now Sony has completed the purchase of Ericsson’s stake in this joint venture.

According to announcement from Soy, “Sony Corporation ("Sony") today announced that the transaction to acquire Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson's ("Ericsson") 50% stake in Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB ("Sony Ericsson") has been completed as of February 15, 2012 (Central European time). This marks the completion of the transaction jointly announced by Sony andEricsson on October 27, 2011, and makes Sony Ericsson a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony.”

Sony also clear, "We wanted to give you some more information about Sony’s intended purchase of Sony Ericsson and what it means for you. Some things won’t change at all. For example, your existing warranty will remain completely valid and you’ll still get the same great service and support that you’ve been used to. But you will see some important new benefits."

And "Your Sony Ericsson phone already features great Sony technology. But in future, you can expect even more leading-edge Sony capabilities and easy connectivity with other Sony products including TVs, PCs and tablets to allow youto share content seamlessly across multiple screens. There will also be more opportunities to enjoy premium entertainment content from Sony including music and film services from the Sony Entertainment Network."

Sony also announced about its first smartphone under this new brand. New Sony Xperia™ S smartphone features Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and will be upgraded to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) during the second quarter 2012.Other specifications are a 4.3" HD touchscreen with 16,777,216 colour and 1280x720 pixels resolution, 12.1 megapixel Camera with flash and HD video recording, Front-facing camera, 1 to 1.5 GBInternal phone storage, 32 GB eMMC Flash Memory and 1 GB RAM.
